BEEKMAN STREET PLAZA

NEW YORK, NEW YORK

Beekman Street Plaza, located in downtown Manhattan, is a privately owned public plaza designed by James Corner Field Operations in collaboration with well-known horticulturalist Piet Oudolf and Frank Gehry Architects, lead architect for the residential tower.

Beekman Street Plaza is comprised of two through-block plazas. West Plaza is a large plaza fitted with unique paving, planters, screens, custom furnishing, and a series of water feature jets set into custom pavers. William Street Plaza, on the east side of the building, is a pedestrian plaza that provides a coherent and connected public space between a school entry in the new building and the existing hospital. Both plazas are active and public open spaces.
