NEW YORK, NEW YORK
Field Operations designed the public realm for the Manhattan West development, a unique two-block site on the west side of Manhattan, situated across from the historic Farley Post Office on the west and the new Moynihan Train Station on the east. The project is comprised of a complex of towers (north and south) flanking a central public space developed by Brookfield Properties. The primary public open space is an elevated 2-acre plaza at the center of the development, built over a structure that covers an extensive network of train tracks running beneath. The central space is part of a larger urban gesture to knit together the existing Midtown business district with the newly developed Hudson Yards, flanked by retail and hosting many events as part of its year-round programming.
The Manhattan West development is in late stages of construction with the NE Tower, Entry Plaza, and Central Plaza all open with the complete development set to open by 2024.
