The Underline will transform the land below Miami’s Metrorail from Brickell to Dadeland into a 10-mile signature linear park, urban trail, and living art destination that is inspired by the Miami area, well-connected to transit, and a gateway to the adjacent communities.

Well-positioned in the region, The Underline is anchored on the north end at the Miami River near Brickell Avenue, Miami’s fast-growing financial district, and on the south end by the Dadeland South Metrorail Station serving Dadeland, one of the country’s highest grossing malls. With a generous width ranging from 70 to 170 feet, the corridor offers an opportunity to create a distinctive park influenced by its inherent attributes - the unique space created by the distinctive overhead structure of the Metrorail viaduct, the large amount of adjacent undeveloped land, the relationship to existing neighborhoods, institutions, parks, canals, and the Miami River, and the diminished natural ecology of the area.

The Underline will create an active, connected pedestrian and bike thoroughfare with regular features, encouraging residents to get out of their cars to walk, bike, and take mass transit, day and night.

The Framework Plan outlines the key strategies that guide the design, while the Demonstration Projects take two areas into more detailed design as early wins.
